Stretch Hood
Stretch hood (packing in stretch film) – This is one of the most dynamically developing packaging technologies for unifying palletizing of cargo. Stretch-hood is a modern pallet packaging with a film, in which an expandable sleeve is put on top of the packaged goods, tightly compressing the stack, fixing it on the pallet.
Its principle is to open the stretch-hood sleeve and, after stretching it in 4 places, putting this sleeve on the load laid on the pallet. In accordance with the properties of the elastomer, the packaging material “seeks” to restore its state to stretching, as a result of which a pressing force is created that is uniform along the entire perimeter of the pallet.
The tensile force holding the load is significantly greater than with conventional shrink caps or manual stretch film. Another significant advantage of this technology is the absence of the need for an expensive and energy-intensive shrink or thermal tunnel, which gives at least 30-40% energy savings. Three-layer polymer coating protects loads from 5 sides from mechanical damage, moisture and ultraviolet radiation. Stretch hood exceeds the characteristic for shrink protection of pallets, as well as conventional stretch materials.
Stretch hood can be made in a colorless, dyed or flexographic version.
